Position Description: Effectively and efficiently manage communications materials and campaigns to the physician and hospital audiences surrounding significant planned and unplanned events. Manage the development and distribution of communication material to launch and support UnitedHealthcare programs, policies and initiatives that affect network physicians, hospitals and other health care professionals in the West region. Positions in this function design and coordinate company communications, including internal and/or external communications. Responsible for maintaining policies and procedures and monitoring company media, which may include company websites. May manage public relations activities, including public information and shareholder information services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Participation with business owners at the earliest juncture to gain a full understanding of each program or initiative that will eventually need to be communicated
- Coordination of socialization of initiative and related communication with UnitedHealthcare Community & State leaders other parts of the business
- Development and coordination of communications to the provider community, establishing consistency in approach and delivery of external messages with a defined scope, format and clear audience, in addition to coordination of production, printing and internal and external distribution
- Work closely with other business partners (including clinical, marketing, public relations, customer service and others) to coordinate communications to the physician and hospital audiences and overseeing the communication through the determined review process, maintaining careful document control and coordinating with the business owners at each step to answer questions and address concerns
- Working with key staff, integrate and implement feedback from field staff on effective communication techniques and respond to requests for clarification of existing communication efforts
- Manage communications and field campaigns to physicians, hospitals and other health care professionals
- Maintain strong working knowledge of UnitedHealth Network and Medicaid business policies and procedures
- Continually audit process for efficiency and effectiveness, and note and address any revelations that could affect other programs/initiatives both within the scope of UnitedHealthcare Community & State and in other parts of the company

Qualifications: Requirements:
- 3 – 5 years experience with writing and/or copy editing
- Intermediate level of skill with MS Word & Excel
- Bachelor’s Degree 5+ years of comparable experience required
- High School Diploma or GED required
Assets:
- Healthcare writing experience
- Experience with provider communications
- Clinical experience
- Knowledge of HTML
- Master’s Degree
- Experience with Adobe Professional
